Our tutors have exceptional academic and professional backgrounds. Not only have they mastered the college entrance exams, but more importantly, they are fully invested in this process and have a unique gift for connecting with students.
Joshua Shampaner, M.Ed
As the founder of Top Score Tutors, Josh has always been passionate about the field of education. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education from Florida State University and Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Florida Atlantic University. His professional experience includes three years as a high school classroom teacher and five years as a college admissions counselor and academic advisor at Florida Atlantic University, serving both undergraduate and graduate students. Aside from running the daily operations of Top Score Tutors, Mr. Shampaner conducts in-person workshops for underserved, low income, and first generation students throughout Broward and Miami-Dade County. He has been preparing students for the SAT/ACT since 2017, logging more than 5,000 hours of tutoring experience in both individual and group settings. Each Spring, he helps plan and execute college tours for high school students across the country. When Mr. Shampaner isn't teaching, he loves going to baseball games, doing yoga, practicing spanish, going to the beach, and spending quality time with his wife and son.
Jonathan Szatkowski
Jonathan Szatkowski is a 20+ year veteran, California State-Certified Educator with over 10,000 documented virtual hours specializing in high-stakes Digital SAT/ACT preparation. Holding a BA in Secondary Education from SUNY Geneseo, Jonathan builds custom cognitive systems that eliminate the digital technology crutch, training students to conquer proctored test endurance and advanced analytical reasoning traps. He spent 11 years working at the Malcolm Baldrige Award-winning Altus Institute in San Diego, where he guided Gifted & Talented and neurodivergent learners navigating IEP/504 frameworks. Bypassing passive rote memorization, Jonathan applies real-time accountability and strict performance pacing to eliminate execution ceilings and calculation errors before test day. Fusing multi-disciplinary expertise across advanced mathematics, sciences, and humanities, Jonathan delivers high-impact communication logic that makes abstract concepts uniquely accessible, ensuring high-achieving students master the complex critical reasoning required to dominate competitive university admissions.
Disha Iyengar
Disha is a rising senior at the University of Central Florida, pursuing a Bachelor's in Biomedical Sciences with a minor in Spanish on a BS/MD track. She has been tutoring for five years, working primarily with high school students in a variety of AP and IB subjects, as well as SAT, PSAT, and ACT prep. Disha is committed to helping students not only master academic content but also build strong test-taking strategies and confidence to achieve their best results. She scored a 1530 on the SAT, which informs her approach to standardized test prep. After graduation, Disha plans to begin medical school and pursue a career as a physician. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, painting, and traveling.
Leo Shusterman M.Ed
Leo’s passion for math and education started with the influence of his grandmother, who was a math teacher in the Soviet Union for 40 years. He has a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction, both earned from the University of Texas at San Antonio. His professional experience includes teaching math at the collegiate level, and for the last 7 years, teaching high school math ranging from all the subjects such as Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus AB/BC. While pursing his master's degree, he tutored students at the Sylvan Learning Center on a variety of topics including the SAT. When Mr. Shusterman is not teaching he loves watching and playing baseball and football, collecting sports cards, and most importantly spending time with the 2 girls in his life, his wife Victoria and daughter Evie.
Amir Abusafieh
Hi, I’m Amir! I earned my master’s degree in physics at Brown University and my bachelor’s in physics at Vanderbilt University. I’ve been tutoring since 2020, working with middle school, high school, and college students in math, physics, and SAT preparation. My experience ranges from algebra and calculus to AP, IB, and college physics, both online and in person. I enjoy helping students work through a difficult problem until it starts to click. Everyone learns differently, so I take time to understand how you think and find explanations that make sense to you. You can expect friendly, focused sessions with practical strategies and plenty of room for questions. My goal is for you to leave understanding the material better and feeling more confident tackling problems on your own.
Heather Landberg
With over two decades of experience in the classroom, Heather has built a career helping students find and refine their voices. Having taught English, Computer Science, and Entrepreneurship at both the middle and high school levels, she understands the importance of clear communication and creative expression. As a college essay advisor, Heather works closely with students to develop essays that go beyond surface-level achievements. The essays should highlight their personality and potential while making a memorable impact on college admissions readers. She believes a truly effective essay captures the essence of who a student is and how they will enhance a school's culture.
John Soliman, M.S.
John is a lifelong learner and an avid tutor who has experience in multiple teaching settings such as online SAT/ACT preparation and with students of all age groups. John incorporates test-taking strategies, subject instruction, critical thinking skills, and his perspective as someone who scored 1560 on the Digital SAT to ensure a high-quality learning experience for his students. A guiding principle of his teaching methods is his students’ short- and long-term success, in which test prep sessions are opportunities to lay a foundation for productive habits that will also allow his students to achieve their immediate academic goals. Currently, he holds a bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of California, Riverside and a master’s degree in Biostatistics from the University of Florida. When John is not tutoring or mentoring students, he spends his spare time playing sports & board games, getting together with his friends, and expanding his knowledge of baseball analytics.
Yash Sonchhatra
Yash Sonchhatra is studying Economics and Modern History at the University of St Andrews in Scotland. He has over three years of tutoring experience, specializing in one-on-one SAT preparation and a range of AP subjects.
Yash’s teaching philosophy is centered on helping students become confident, independent learners. He combines practical test-taking strategies with a strong understanding of the underlying concepts, making challenging material clear, approachable, and easier to master.
Yash scored a 1530 on the Digital SAT and graduated as an AP Scholar with Distinction. Outside of tutoring, he enjoys following financial markets and international affairs, as well as running and playing golf.
